A display name template automatically populates the display name field for all Windows user accounts. You can use custom text and Active Directory (AD) attributes to insert in the template.
Note: The display name template is intended for Vault Professional Windows-authenticated user accounts only.
To create a display name template:
- Select Tools Administration Global Settings.
- In the Global Settings dialog box, select the Security tab, and then click Manage Access.
- In the User and Group Management dialog box, select the Users tab.
- Click Actions Display Name Template. The Display Name Template for Windows Accounts dialog box is displayed.
- Type your template in the description field. You can include custom text in the template along with the AD attributes.
Note: The template must contain at least one AD attribute. By default, the attribute "displayname" is set as the template. You can select AD attributes from the list on the right to add them in the template.
- Verify your template in the Preview field.
- By default, the template applies to new Windows-authenticated users upon login as well as new users added via import/update of Windows users and groups. Select the checkbox to apply the template to all existing Windows-authenticated users.
- Click OK to save the template.
- Click the Refresh button to populate changes across different User and Group Management tabs.
Note: If a user display name already exists, you can change the display name of the existing user or change the display name template to avoid any conflict.
To update the display name for a single user:
- Select a user account row in the User and Group Management dialog, right-click, and select Edit. Alternatively, select a user account row, click Actions Edit.
- Edit the display name for the user in the Display Name field.
- Click OK.
To update the display name for multiple users:
- Export the user profile information in an excel format.
- Modify the display name in the exported excel file.
Note: Ensure you do not make any changes to the additional column "Display Name (Do not change)" in the exported file.
- Import the user updates to vault.
- Click the Refresh button to populate changes across different User and Group Management tabs.
The user display name field in vault will now reflect the updated display name.
