Create BOM reports that show Parts-level, First-level, and Multi-level views.
Note: Structure is not shown in BOM reports. For this reason, the BOM row order is significant for Multi-level BOM reports. The row order can be leveraged to show the level of the BOM.
Vault comes with three out-of-the-box BOM templates that can be used to create BOM Reports:
- BOM- First-Level.rdlc
- BOM - Multi-Level.rdlc
- BOM - Parts-Only.rdlc
Note: The BOM Report templates are located at C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Vault [
Edition] [
year]\Explorer\Report Templates. See
Create Report Templates for more information about designing your own template.
Create a BOM Report
- Open the item for which you want to generate the BOM report and select the BOM tab.
- Identify the structure that you want to show in the BOM report by selecting Multi-Level, First-Level, or Parts Only from the View drop-down.
- If you are planning to create a multi-level BOM report, modify the row order of the BOM so that the row order can be leveraged to show the level of the BOM.
- Right click on any item in the BOM grid and select BOM Report.
- On the Select Report Template dialog, identify the path to the BOM report template that you want to use or click Browse Files to browse to that directory.
Important: The BOM Report template must match the structure view you selected. For example, if you selected Parts Only, you must choose a template that supports the Parts Only view.
Note: The Browse button defaults to Report Templates directory provided by Vault.
You can also click the drop-down arrow beside the Browse Files button to specify whether you want to browse for templates on the local machine or in a vault.
- Select the BOM template that matches the view that you selected and click Open.
- Verify that you have identified the correct template and click OK.
