To Use the SHP Data Manager to View and Access Imported Data

Use the SHP Data Manager command to view lists of all data objects imported in each import event.

Use the tools on the palette's context menu to move (transfer) objects between named import events, delete objects in a drawing imported in a specific import event, rename import events, and pan or zoom to objects imported in the selected events.

The SHP Data Manager displays a list of imported data in an expandable, hierarchical tree structure. When you select an import event, the list of data imported is displayed in the lower pane.

  1. In the Toolspace, on the Toolbox tab, expand SHP Import/Export Utilities SHP Import/Export. Double-click SHP Data Manager to open the SHP Data Manager dialog box.

The palette lists SHP file events for the currently open and selected drawing.

  2. Click on an import event or item to display additional information about that event or item.
  3. Optionally, right-click on the selected collection or item to open the context menu and access commands that apply to the selected item.

For example, to delete objects from the drawing imported in a previous import event, select the named event in the SHP import events tree structure and select Delete from the context menu. A warning box is displayed asking you to confirm the deletion.

To move objects from one import event to another

Use the Move To command in the palette's context menu to move objects from one SHP import event to another. The contents of an entire import event, including points, AutoCAD points, polylines, 3D polylines, or feature lines can be moved together.
Note: You can also move objects between import events by changing the property set properties for the import event and SHP file name.
  1. In the palette, right-click the target event or a sub-component of it from the SHP import events list.
  2. Select Move To to open the Move to Import Event dialog box.
  3. Select a Destination import event from the list of events or click to create a new import event. The name of the new destination event is displayed at the top of the list.
  4. Click OK.

To use the SHP Drawing Query tool

When working with an item selected in the palette, you can use the SHP Drawing Query tool instead of the generic, SHP (logical) Query Builder tool. Because the identity of the object is already established, the Drawing Query tool can provide more extensive and detailed property lists to work with compared to the generic SHP logical query builder.
