Saving / Update of a Substructure

There are two options that enable work on the smaller parts of a structure:

1. the Save Substructure option:
   • from the menu Geometry > Structure > Save Substructure
   • from the toolbar
2. the Update from Substructure option:
   • from the menu Geometry > Structure > Update from Substructure.

Save Substructure

Select Geometry > Structure > Save Substructure to save a part of a structure model with its calculation results. From this model it is possible to perform analysis of results and design of structure elements. A smaller structure model makes result analyses easier and printout preparations faster.

For a substructure, the member design or calculations of plate / shell reinforcement may also be performed.

Note: Static calculations should not be carried out for a substructure as it is only a part of a structure model. It will not take into account the supports or loads relevant to the whole structure.

Update from Substructure

Select Geometry > Structure > Update from Substructure to update substructure changes in the whole structure model. Updating replaces changed object attributes, such as bar sections, releases, supports, panel thickness, code parameters and so on. While updating, the add or delete object operations are not taken into account.

Once designs of structure elements are completed, modifications in a whole structure model can be performed. Sections determined in steel element design of a substructure may update the model of a whole structure. Select to use this update option.

It is important to recalculate results of the static analysis of the whole structure model after this update. New member sections need to be included in the analysis.
