New insulating material (EC3)

Use this option to define a new type of insulating material for a protected element, and add it to the database of insulating materials.

Access

1. Ensure that Steel/Aluminium Design is selected in the list of layouts.
2. Select Fire analysis parameters in the Member Definition - Parameters dialog for Eurocode 3, and then click Fire to open the fire resistance parameters dialog.
3. In the Basic parameters group, select Protected from the Steel member protection list.
4. Click New material.

Dialog elements

Properties of fire protection material

Contains the list of parameters for the selected material:

• Unit mass.
• Specific heat.
• Thermal conductivity.

Group of materials

Contains the groups of materials.

Tip: You can edit the content of the box to create a new group of materials.

Name of material

Contains the list of material names.

Tip: You can edit the content of the box to create a new material.

Add to database

Creates a new material based on the specified parameters.

Delete from database

Removes the selected material from the database.
