Define Geometrical limits

You can define geometrical limitations for operating loads.

  1. Select a planar, hydrostatic, or thermal load on the Surface tab in the Load Definition dialog. The relevant dialog opens.
  2. Select the Geometrical Limits option, and then click Geometrical Limits. The Geometrical Limits dialog opens.
  3. Select a plane. You can define a plane parallel to any of the 3 planes of the global coordinate system (XY, YZ, or XZ), or an arbitrary plane.
  4. Define a cutting plane.
    • For planes parallel to the global coordinate system axes, specify the coordinates of a point.
    • For an arbitrarily oriented plane, specify the coordinates of three points defining a plane.
  5. Enter a point located on one side of the defined plane to define the direction . Point 4 (direction) defines a semi space in which loads exist.
  6. Select Thickness d if you want to specify the thickness of a layer in which loads exist. The unit of thickness is based on the length of structure unit.
  7. Click Apply.
