3ds Max Installation

You can install 3ds Max on a single host or a network server. Earlier versions do not need to be uninstalled before a new version can be installed. You can have multiple versions of 3ds Max installed simultaneously.

Important: Before you choose to install 3ds Max, verify your system meets the minimum system requirements and your hardware meets the minimum requirements to run the product, and make sure to read the Release Notes.

The default installation path for 3ds Max is:

Windows

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max <Version>

Important: If you install 3ds Max to a custom location, ensure that the path does not include any Chinese, Japanese, or Korean double‐byte characters.

Network deployment specific to 3ds Max

In general, you can create a network deployment for 3ds Max using the same method used for most Autodesk products, as outlined in Creating a deployment.
Important: If you are an Enterprise or Token Flex customer, there is an additional step for network deployment

If you are an Enterprise or Token Flex customer, there are additional steps for network deployment:

  1. Navigate to the Image folder and open Deployment.xml.
  2. Locate <Property name="ADLM_PRODKEY" value="128O1"/>.
  3. Change the value to your company's key.
