The Select By submenu on the Edit menu provides commands for selecting objects in the scene by color, name, and other characteristics. It also gives quick access to the various Region selection options.
Default menu: Edit menu > Select By
Alt menu: Edit menu > Select > Select By ...

Select By Color
Select By Color lets you select all objects having the same color as the selected object.
Select By Name (Edit Menu)
Select By Name lets you select objects by choosing them from a list of all objects in the scene.
Select By Layer
Select By Layer lets you select all objects in one or more layers by picking them from a list of all layers in the scene.
