Camera Library

Civil View uses only free cameras, and manages them in a way that makes it easy to create drive-through animations.

The Object Placement Style Editor does not preview camera objects.

[Parameters]

Lens
Sets the lens size for the camera. The value must be a number between 1 and 9, corresponding to the following stock lenses:
  • 1: 15mm Lens
  • 2: 20mm Lens
  • 3: 24mm Lens
  • 4: 28mm Lens
  • 5: 35mm Lens
  • 6: 50mm Lens (standard lens size)
  • 7: 85mm Lens
  • 8: 135mm Lens
  • 9: 200mm Lens
EnvironmentNear

Sets the near range limit for atmospheric effects such as fog.

Objects between the near and far limits fade between the Far Amount % and Near Amount % values defined on the Civil View Fog Parameters panel.

EnvironmentFar
Sets the far range limit for atmospheric effects such as fog.

Objects between the near and far limits fade between the Far Amount % and Near Amount % values defined on the Civil View Fog Parameters panel.

TargetLength
Sets the distance to the point in space at which the camera is aimed.

This distance can be an important consideration, depending on the geometry of the parent shape.

It is possible to provide a selection of different target lengths by creating different INI files with differing TargetLength values. Alternatively, once the camera has been created you can change this value or even animate it from the Civil View Explorer panel.

Note: If the specified TargetLength is greater than the length of the parent shape, Civil View truncates this value accordingly.

[Group]

Name
The name of the category sub-group in which this object should be listed. If no name is specified, the object will be listed as ungrouped.

Adding Custom Cameras to the Library

Create an INI file in the format described above, and add it to the /objlibs/cameras within any current Civil View resource kit. (Because 3ds Max provides the camera, this is all you need to do.)
