Drawing Deregistration

Learn how to turn on or off the automatic drawing deregistration access and deregister missing documentation.

Management Tools Default

To turn on or off the "Automatic drawing deregistration during Document Manager startup" default:
  1. On the Home or Tools tab, click (Management Tools).
  2. In the Management Tools application, navigate to System General category.
  3. Find the default and check or clear its box.

With the installation of Advance Steel, this default is turned on, which brings back the old functionality (before Advance Steel 2022) when opening Document Manager (or running status check), documentation (detail drawings, BOM lists, NC and DSTV files) that is not available on the disk in the project relative folder location (e.g., …\Model\Details folder) would be deregistered from the project, so it would not appear in the Document Manager tree view.

By turning this default off, the Advance Steel 2022 behavior is brought back, and those files are no longer deregistered, but instead they appear in Document Manager under the "Unknown" category. This functionality is recommended if you work with projects stored on cloud share drives, where the asynchronous process of downloading files may lead to situations where not all the files are downloaded after accessing the model, and Document Manager, not deregistering valid project files associated to the model to ensure project consistency.

Deregister Missing Documentation

To manually deregister all documentation currently not available as files on the disk, in the project relative folder location:

You can use the command (when the default to automatically deregister missing documentation is turned off) to clean the project of files that are no longer needed. You can use the command with the default turned on, but it will act the same way as running status check from Document Manager.

After using the command, the full list of all deregistered files will appear in the command line.

You can use the command while Document Manager is open, and it will refresh the correct state of the available documentation in the tree view.

Note: The action of deregistering documentation was removed from the audit command.
