Organize objects on layers
Layers allow you to organize related objects into groups that you can pick, display, and edit individually or together.
Create a new layer
Do one of the following:
- Choose Layers > New
.
- In the Object Lister (Windows > Object Lister),right-click anywhere in the window, and then select Insert New Layer from the pop-up menu.
Rename a layer
- Double-click the name of the layer in the Object Lister or Layer Bar.
Set the layer in which new objects will be created
Move objects into a layer
- Pick the objects you want to assign to a layer.
- Do one of the following:
- Click on the layer’s button in the Layer Bar and choose Assign from the pop-up menu.
- In the Object Lister, right-click the layer, and then select Assign Objects from the pop-up menu.
Create an empty layer folder
Do one of the following:
- Choose Layers > New Folder.
- In the Object Lister, right-click on a layer and select New Layer Folder.
Put layers in a layer folder
In the Object Lister, do one of the following:
- Select the layers to assign, then right-click on the layer folder and choose Assign Layers.
drag the layers into the folder.
Create a layer folder containing selected layers
- In the Object Lister, select the layers.
- Right-click and select Insert New Layer Folder From Layers.
