Files saved by Autodesk Map 3D 2007 or earlier contain geographic location information that AutoCAD can’t recognize.
Open the file with AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 or later, and save it as an AutoCAD Map 3D file. AutoCAD is able to read geographic location information in AutoCAD Map 3D files and recognize the geographic marker and GIS coordinate system.
