Configuring the BOM is the foundation for configuring parts list and balloons.
Configure the following options for the BOM:
When you add a component property to a parts list or to a part reference, the property is added to the BOM automatically. You can add component properties that parts lists do not usually use, directly to the BOM. For example, you can add component properties for downstream consumption by product lifecycle management tools.
When you remove a component property from the BOM, the property disappears from parts lists or part references as well.
The order in which component properties appear in the BOM Settings dialog box is the order in which they appear (as BOM columns) in the BOM. Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons in the BOM tab of the BOM Settings dialog box to change the order.
In the BOM Settings dialog box, you can specify whether the BOM is expanded or structured. In the expanded representation, BOM items correspond to parts while in the structured representation, BOM items correspond to assemblies. This setting serves only as a default setting, which you can change from the BOM dialog box any time during a drawing session.
