To Insert an Xref Component, Nested Below Another Component (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)
To insert the new instance as a child of an existing component, in the mechanical browser, double-click the component view you want to use as the parent view. A blue highlight is displayed across the component view node, indicating that it is active.
Note:
You can select the root node as a parent, if required.
Standard part views, standard features, shaft component views, component views in annotation views, and component views in AMDETAIL views are invalid selections for parent components.
From the Files section in the External Drawings tab or Favorites tab, select the drawing file that contains the component you want to attach as an external reference (xref) component.
From the Mechanical Structure panel in the Details section, drag a component view of the component you want to insert, to anywhere on the drawing area. In the drawing area, a floating preview of the component view geometry is displayed.
Move the pointer to the position you want to insert the geometry and click.
Press Enter to accept the default rotation angle or specify a rotation angle and press Enter.
The inserted instance of the component is shown in the mechanical browser. The bill of materials reflects that the component is added.
Double-click the root node of the mechanical browser to reset the activated component view.
