Creates new components, component views, folders, and annotation views, using command line options.

Summary

Note: You can use either AMSCREATE or AMSNEW to create new components, component views, folders, and annotation views. AMSCREATE uses the command line and the browser to create elements. AMSNEW uses a dialog box to create elements.

List of Prompts

The following prompts are displayed.

Object to create
Specifies whether the command creates a component, component view, annotation view, or folder.
New component name
Specifies a name for a new component. The name can contain spaces, but must be unique in the drawing.
New component view name
Specifies a name for a new component view. The component view name can contain spaces. The default component view names are specified in the AM:Structure tab of the Options dialog box.
Parent component and view
Specifies the position of the new component view in the mechanical browser. Click the geometry of a component view to list it under that component view. Enter M to list the new component and component view directly under the root node of the mechanical browser. Enter A to use the currently activated component view as the parent view. Enter ? to see a valid list of names.
Select objects
Specifies the objects that must belong to the component view or folder you are creating. You can select elemental geometry or a component view or folder. Keep clicking the geometry until you see the name of the elemental geometry, component view or folder you want to include.
Base point
Specifies an insertion point for the component view, annotation view or folder you are creating.
Select component instance for view
Specifies a component to add a new component view to. This prompt is displayed when you have selected options to create component views only.
Annotation view name <Default>
Specifies a name for the annotation view. Press Enter to accept the default as the annotation view name or enter a new annotation view name. The default annotation view name is specified in the Options dialog box on the AM:Structure tab. An annotation view name must be unique among annotation views in a drawing.
