AutoCAD Mechanical toolset provides several commands for creating dimensions for chamfers.
AMPOWERDIM and Variants
You can use the AMPOWERDIM command and the AMPOWERDIM_CHAM command to create chamfer dimensions. These commands create the chamfer dimension using the default chamfer dimension representation.
Note: The AMPOWERDIM_CHAM command is a shortcut to the Chamfer option of the AMPOWERDIM command.
AMCHAM2D and Variants
You can also use the Dimension option of the AMCHAM2D command to create chamfer dimensions. By default, AMCHAM2D uses the default chamfer dimension representation. However you can use the ribbon (or the Setup option when the ribbon is not displayed) to override the representation. Chamfers dimensioned during this command session follow this setting and thereafter resets to the default chamfer dimension representation.
The AMCHAM2D_DIM command, is a shortcut to the Dimension option of the AMCHAM2D command. It behaves very like the AMPOWERDIM_CHAM command. However, we recommend the AMPOWERDIM_CHAM command over the AMCHAM2D_DIM command for the following reasons:
- AMPOWERDIM_CHAM provides visual clues at the cursor while creating chamfer dimensions.
- AMCHAM2D_DIM cannot create chamfer dimensions in a layout without activating the viewport. This limitation does not apply to AMPOWERDIM_CHAM.
