A panel may be automatically hidden when the cursor is moved away.
In the panel title bar, click 
Auto Hide.
The panel is displayed as a tab on the far left of the Autodesk Subassembly Composer for Autodesk Civil 3D window.
To restore the panel, in the panel title bar, click Dock as Tabbed Document.
