To Export an Autodesk Civil 3D Drawing to a MicroStation DGN File

To export an Autodesk Civil 3D drawing to a MicroStation DGN file

You can create a MicroStation® DGN file from an Autodesk® Civil 3D® drawing.

Tip: As a prerequisite to using this command, if you do not have MicroStation installed, you may want to first use the DGNMAPPING command to create a mapping setup file which you can select when exporting a drawing. A mapping setup file associates AutoCAD layers, linetypes, lineweights, and colors to their equivalents in MicroStation.
  1. Set up your drawing so that all objects that you want to export are visible. Only those objects that are visible will be exported.
  2. Click Output tab Export panel Export Civil 3D Drawing Find.
  3. In the Export Autodesk Civil 3D Drawing dialog box, select MicroStation DGN in the Export To File Type field.
  4. Click the Export Settings button.
  5. In the Export Settings dialog box, specify the settings for the exported files, and then click OK.
Note: The Export Settings dialog box displays different options depending on whether you have MicroStation installed or not.
  6. Use the other options in the Export Autodesk Civil 3D Drawing dialog box to specify additional settings for exporting the drawings and to specify which drawings to export.
  7. Click Export.

The Export Status dialog box is displayed.

  8. Review the information displayed in the dialog box and click OK to close it.
Note: By default, the Export Civil 3D Drawing command converts feature lines, parcel segments, and survey figures to 3D objects. For information about how to convert them to 2D objects, see To Export an Autodesk Civil 3D Drawing to an AutoCAD DWG File.
