To Import and Export IMX Datasets

You can use IMX datasets to exchange data with InfraWorks.

To import an IMX dataset

You can use the workflow described in To Bring Autodesk InfraWorks Data into Autodesk Civil 3D to bring an IMX dataset into Civil 3D.

1. Click Insert tab InfraWorks panel InfraWorks Open InfraWorks Model Find.
2. In the Open InfraWorks Model dialog box, specify the IMX dataset that was exported from InfraWorks.
3. Specify the settings and refine the selection set if needed.
4. Click Open Model.

You can also use the following command:

1. On the InfraWorks tab, on the Import panel, click Import IMX .
2. Select the IMX dataset to import and click Open.

To export an IMX dataset

1. On the Output tab, on the Export panel, click Export IMX Find.
2. Specify the path for the writable folder.
3. Specify the IMX version.

   The dataset is saved using the naming format <drawing name>.imx in the specified folder.

Note: People who have Civil 3D installed on the same computer as InfraWorks can open drawings directly in InfraWorks. For more information, see To Add Autodesk Civil 3D Data to an InfraWorks model.
