To Calculate the 3D Area of Corridor Links

You can calculate a 3D area based on corridor links by specifying a setting in the QuantityTakeoff command settings.

  1. Open a drawing that contains a corridor for which you want to calculate 3D areas of quantities.
  2. In Toolspace, on the Settings tab, expand Quantity Takeoff Commands.
  3. Right-click TakeOff Edit Command Settings.
  4. In the Edit Command Settings - Takeoff dialog box, expand Compute Takeoff Options.
  5. For Computation Type, select 3D. This setting now applies to lengths as well as areas. However, the Computation Type setting calculates 3D areas only for corridors; it does not apply to other Autodesk Civil 3D objects.
Note: Prior to version 2015 of the application, this setting was titled Length Computation Type and it did not apply to areas.
Note: You can also specify the Computation Type setting in the Quantity Takeoff Command Settings dialog box. To access the Quantity Takeoff Command Settings dialog box, click in the QTO Manager vista.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the drawing, right-click the corridor and click Corridor Properties.
  8. In the Corridor Properties dialog box, on the Codes tab, edit the Code Set Style to assign quantity takeoff items to the corridor links. Click OK twice to close the dialog boxes.
  9. Click Analyze tabQTO panelTakeoff Find.
  10. Specify the desired options and click Compute.
  11. Quantities reported in area units are reported as 3D areas.
