PDF Preset Reference

A PDF Preset is a plotter configuration file containing settings that determine the file size, functionality and quality of PDF files generated from a drawing file.

DWG to PDF.pc3 General purpose driver used in AutoCAD 2015 and earlier.
AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation).pc3 General purpose driver suitable for most uses.
AutoCAD PDF (High Quality Print).pc3 Produces a PDF file optimized for printing on paper.
AutoCAD PDF (Smallest File).pc3 Produces a PDF with the smallest possible file size.
AutoCAD PDF (Web and Mobile).pc3 Produces a PDF file that supports hyperlinks mobile devices and Web browsers.

To Change the Settings of a PDF Preset

You change the settings of a PDF preset by editing the settings of the corresponding plotter configuration (*.pc3) file.

  1. From the Application menu , click Print Manage Plotters.
  2. Double-click the .pc3. plotter configuration. file corresponding to the PDF Preset you want to edit. The Plotter Configuration Editor is displayed.
  3. In the Device and Document Settings tab, click the Custom Properties node in the tree.
  4. In the Access Custom Dialog section, click Custom Properties.
  5. In the PDF Options dialog box, make the desired changes and click OK.
  6. In the Device and Document Settings tab, click OK
    Tip: Instead of clicking OK, you can click Save As and save the changes as a new PDF preset, leaving the original PDF preset intact.
