The sketch points in an iFeature sketch can be used to position geometry for recurring patterns.
Sketches in iFeatures can also serve as a layout template when creating other features.
Many designs require the same pattern of holes or cuts. An iFeature that contains a sketch with the points already positioned saves time and prevents errors. Its configuration is the same each time the iFeature is used.
For example, In Inventor, you can use a sheet metal punch pattern in many designs. Using sketch points to specify placement of the punches, you can place the pattern by selecting points. The points can be specified in the drawing and used by a machine operator to set up a machine or used by a numeric control program.
