To Set Up Content Center with Local Libraries

When you are a standalone user, work in the Desktop Content environment with Content Center Libraries installed locally.

  1. In the Inventor Installer, select libraries to install to the Desktop Content folder.
  2. When user libraries from previous two releases are found by Inventor installer, the Transfer Legacy User Libraries message box appears on the first startup. Click OK to automatically transfer the libraries to current Desktop Content location.

If you skip the automatic transfer, you can transfer the libraries later by using the Library Transfer Guide.

  3. If appropriate, copy additional libraries to the Desktop Content folder.
    • Use the Library Transfer Guide to transfer libraries from a Vault server to the Desktop Content location.
    • Copy user libraries from an external location to your Desktop Content folder: Locate a library to copy, and copy it as a file to your Desktop Content folder. The library appears in the Libraries list of the Configure Libraries dialog box, and can be added to the configuration.
Note: The copied library must have a unique internal library name to be added to the Content Center configuration.
  4. Use the Update Tool to migrate and synchronize legacy user libraries.
Note: Use separate folders for old and new Desktop Content libraries. Remember that migration in Update Tool irreversibly changes user libraries. You cannot use migrated Desktop Content libraries in an old version of Autodesk Inventor.
  5. In the project:
    • Configure Content Center libraries.
    • Specify the folder to store standard components placed from Content Center.
