To Publish to DWF

  1. In a file, click FileExportExport to DWF or click Export to DWF in the AnnotateExport panel in a part or assembly file.
  2. Select the Publish option - Express, Custom, or Complete.
Note: Express does not capture View representations. If you want to export views that control the 3D annotation visibility state such as Top, Front, and Right, then use Complete or Custom.
    Select Express to publish:
    • The current view of the file without all View representations.
    • A single 2D snapshot of the current view.
    • A small DWF file from a large Inventor file. To create the smallest file, clear the Enable Measure checkbox before you publish.

Select Complete to publish the full content of the file including View representations and 3D annotation visibility state.

Select Custom to specify content to include in the output file such as the views to export.

  3. On the General tab, specify the following:
    • Enable Measure: Clear the check box to disable DWF measure capability.
    • Enable Printing: Clear the check box to disable DWF printing capability.
    • Enable Markups: Clear the checkbox to disable the ability in the DWF file to place 2D markups, or to open Autodesk Inventor 3D model and place 3D markups in the DWF file.
Note: This option is available only when you publish one or more sheets or a 3D model. Autodesk Inventor only reads 2D sheet markups when loading DWF or DWFx markups.
    • Allow Editing and Deletion of Markups: Click the check box to allow anyone to edit and delete markups.
    • All colors as black: Click the check box to set All colors as black while exporting a 2D drawing as a DWF file.
    • Password Protection: If appropriate, set a password so that only authorized viewers can open the file.
    • Default Output location of DWF file: Specify the output folder location where Design Web Format (DWF) and plot files are saved.
    • Create 2D Snapshot: Select the check box to publish the current view of a part, assembly, or presentation file (*.ipt, *.iam, *.ipn) as a 2D DWF Only available with the Express Option.
    • Display Published File in Viewer: Select the check box to open the published file immediately in the Design Review.
  4. On the Properties tab, select the properties to publish.
  5. When you select the Custom option, more tabs display depending on the active file. On the additional tab, specify the following:
    • Part: Select the Design View representations to include.
    • Sheet Metal: Select to include the Sheet Metal Style Information, Flat Pattern, or Part.
    • iPart: Select the iPart Factory Components to include.
Note: Each 3D Model you select increases publish time.
    • Assembly: Select the Bill of Materials setting you want to use and the Design View and Positional representations to include. If there is a Dynamic Simulation Animation in the file, check to include.
Note: DWF files containing Dynamic Simulation animations do not automatically run the animation when the file is opened in Autodesk Design Review. Open the published file in Autodesk Design Review. In the Views panel, expand the Published Views and the Dynamic Simulation Views, click the node Dynamic Simulation Animation. Click Play to display the animation.
    • iAssembly: Select the iAssembly Factory Components to include.
    • Presentation: Select the scenes and animations to include.
    • Drawing: Select the active sheet or all sheets to include. Optionally, select Show excluded sheets, Include Sheet tables, or Override sheet colors.
  6. Click Publish to continue. The Publish Document to DWF dialog box opens to specify the DWF name and directory.
Note: Click Options to return to the Publish dialog box.
  7. Click Save to generate the DWF file.
