Style Components and Rules

When defining a style, you specify the conduit part and fittings from the Content Center libraries that make up the pipe run. Then establish rules for routing.

There is a list of system-supplied tube and pipe styles in Autodesk Inventor® Routed Systems. You can use one of these styles, create a style based on one of them, or create a style based on published conduit parts and fittings.

Note: It is possible to define a style that does not work to create a route. An example is if you select fittings that do not have compatible end treatments. While Tube & Pipe Styles allows styles to be defined in this way, you cannot create routes using such a style.

Before creating a style, author necessary conduit parts and fittings and publish them to the Content Center. They are not created automatically. Once custom parts are authored and published, define the new style to match the properties of published parts. For detailed instructions about authoring and publishing, see Author and Publish.

You can modify any of the available style definitions including all that are provided with the system. The change is saved with the style. The style change is also applied to any route currently using that style.

Note: Before you change a system style, make a copy and give it a new name. Then select the system style from the browser, and modify it.

To create a style from a blank one, select the style type to create, and then click New. The basic requirements for the style type remain as a guide, but all values are cleared.

To define a new material for tube and pipe styles, enable the Use Styles Library setting for your project. Then use the Materials Editor to add the required material. After you finish, save the new material.

Danger: Do not confuse tube and pipe styles with styles and style libraries in Autodesk Inventor®. They are two separate, unrelated entities.
