You can convert an assembly to a weldment at any time. The default weldment template is not applied when converting an assembly.
If you discover an assembly model requires welds, consider converting it to a weldment before placing assembly features for both weld preps and post-weld machining.
If
assembly features are present in the selected assembly, indicate the
weld group in which to place them. If no assembly features are present, converting to a weldment has no impact on the assembly itself.
Note: Once you convert an assembly to a weldment, it cannot be converted back to an assembly. To keep a version of an assembly before weldments, save it with a different file name.
- Open an existing assembly file.
- Ensure that your model is updated and not in a rolled back state.
- On the ribbon, click
Environments tab
Convert panel
Convert to Weldment .
- Select the standard to use. The default standard is the standard selected at installation.
- If the assembly contains assembly features, indicate whether to convert them as weld
preparation features or post-weld
machining features .
- Select the default material to use for all weld beads.
- Select the preferred BOM Structure from the list.
- Click OK.
