Use this dialog box to enter parameters for the groove feature in Shaft Component Generator.

Shaft. On the Design tab, select Cylinder in the tree control. In the Section features drop-down menu, Add Groove - A, or Add Groove - B
.
Dimensions
Use the drop-down menu to specify how the groove position is measured within the shaft section.
Enables groove dimensions editing.
- Name
- Displays the name of the parameter. Name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.
- Size
- Select the Size field to insert a value.
Select Measure from the context menu to measure dimension in the Autodesk Inventor window.
Select List Parameters to display the list of parameters. Select a parameter. The parameter value displays in the Size edit field.
Select Values from the context menu to see the list of recommended dimensions.
- Description
- Displays the description of the parameter. Name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.
Position
Use the drop-down menu to specify how the groove position is measured within the shaft section.
- Measure from first edge
- Select to measure the groove position from the left edge of the section.
- Measure from second edge
- Select to measure the groove position from the right edge of the section.
- Centered
- Select to place the groove to the center of the section.
Note: If you select the Centered option, you cannot specify the Distance value.
