This command provides a streamlined version of the Inventor default command, Create Component. Selecting Add Assembly from within an active assembly to create an empty assembly that is located at (but not constrained to) the active assembly origin. Add Assembly does not activate the newly created assembly, and you need not return to the active assembly. The new assembly file is created in the folder where you last saved. You name and save the assembly you create using the Create Assembly dialog box.
No option to select alternative templates or set BOM structure attributes are presented. No assembly constraints are created between the assembly origin planes that are aligned to the active assembly origin planes.
To add an empty assembly
The Create Assembly dialog box displays.
Click Cancel to terminate the command and close the dialog box at any time before you click Save.
After you create one or more assemblies using the Add Assembly command, add and constrain components in the new assembly. Add assembly constraints to position the new subassembly within the active assembly.
