Pattern symbols or blocks

You can create a rectangular pattern of symbols or AutoCAD blocks. The Copy command creates multiple copies of symbols or blocks with a uniform distance between instances. The position of the patterned objects is not associative.

  1. Right-click an inserted symbol or block in the browser or in the graphics window and select Pattern Symbols/Blocks.
  2. In the Pattern Symbols/Blocks dialog box, select additional symbols or blocks to pattern.
  3. The default Direction 1 is horizontal and Direction 2 is vertical. Select the Direction button then select a line in a view or sketch to change the direction.
  4. Enter the count (number of symbols/blocks) and the spacing (distance between instances) for Direction 1.
  5. Enter the count and spacing for Direction 2.
Note: You can create a single directional pattern by setting the count equal to 1 for either Direction 1 or Direction 2.
  6. Click OK.
