Migrate a Cable and Harness Library

When Cable and Harness Library access is required in a later version of Inventor, the Cable and Harness Library is automatically migrated. The system prompts you to indicate whether to use an existing cable and harness library, or the new one. You can browse to the library you need.

  1. In the Cable and Harness Library Library Migration dialog box select whether to use an existing Cable and Harness Library or to create and use the new cable and harness library.
  2. Specify the location.
  3. Note: Select Cancel to prevent migration of the library.

If the original wire Library is not modified in any way, replace the wire_library.iwl with the library file from the current version.

If any wire occurrences reference a definition that no longer exists after the migration, there are three options:

  1. Cancel the migration, which is pointing to an existing migrated library file, and then migrate the library file that the active harness assembly references.
  2. Do not save the harness assembly, then use Export Wire Library to import the wire definitions into the Cable and Harness Library so the correct reference is in the migrated library.
Note: If the harness assembly is saved, the migration is completed and the references to the library definitions are changed.
  3. Accept the default wire definition for the wires that have lost their definitions.

If the new migrated file that the harness assembly references has missing appearances or different data type associated with a property, additional dialog boxes are presented indicating these changes.
