Define Workpiece Reference

Defining the workpiece is a prerequisite to generating the core and cavity.

Access:
On the Core/Cavity tab, click Define Workpiece.
Workpiece Type Specifies a rectangular or cylindrical workpiece from the drop-down menu.
Product Dimensions
X

Shows the projected length of the product in the X direction.

Y

Shows the projected length of the product in the Y direction.

Z

Shows the projected length of the product in the Z direction.

Reference

Specifies a By Boundary Box or By References workpiece from the drop-down menu.

By References enables selection of a Part CSYS, circular edge, endpoint, Work Point, or UCS in the graphics window. Checking Multiple references enables the selection arrows in the Workpiece Dimensions section.

Workpiece Dimensions
X
  • X+ Specifies the distance between the YZ plane of the product range box and the rectangular workpiece in the positive X direction.
  • X- Specifies the distance between the YZ plane of the product range box and the rectangular workpiece in the negative X direction.
  • X_total Specifies the total length of the workpiece in the X direction.
Y
  • Y+ Specifies the distance between the XZ plane of the product range box and the rectangular workpiece in the positive Y direction.
  • Y- Specifies the distance between the XZ plane of the product range box and the rectangular workpiece in the negative Y direction.
  • Y_total Specifies the total length of the workpiece in the Y direction.
Z
  • Z+ Specifies the distance between the XY plane of the product range box and the rectangular workpiece in the positive Z direction.
  • Z- Specifies the distance between the XY plane of the product range box and the rectangular workpiece in the negative Z direction.
  • Z_total Specifies the total length of the workpiece in the Z direction.
D

Specifies the diameter of the cylinder workpiece in the XY section.
