Create Patching Surface Reference

Automatically detects all internal patches.

Access:
  On the Core/Cavity tab, click Create Patching Surface
 
All Upper

Specifies the positions of all patches to Upper.

All Lower

Specifies the positions of all patches to Lower.

Auto Detect

Enables automatic detection of patching surfaces.

Patch
Name

The name of the patch. To add another edge set, click the Click to Add prompt under the last row of the table. Use Select Mode to simplify the selection of edges.

Edge Count

Defines a set of edges to compose one patch. To add edges, select the patch, and then click the edges in the graphics window. To remove edges, hold down CTRL as you click.

Position

Specifies the auto-detected position of the patch. Click Position, click the pull-down menu, and then click Upper or Lower.

Optional

Designates a patch as optional.

Loop Specifies the edges of one patch. To remove the edges, click the Delete or Ctrl key and in the graphic window, select the edge. To add the edges, in the graphic window, select the edges.
 
Preview

Updates the preview of the patching surface in the graphics window.

 
Optional

Extends the dialog box to display more options.

 
Automatic Edge Chain

Automatically detects a selected edge, and includes all edges that are continuous and tangential to the selected edge. Edge chaining stops if it detects an edge that is not continuously tangential to the selected edge.

Select Mode
Edge

Selects or removes single edges.

Loop

Selects or removes the edges of a closed loop on a face.
