To Work with Corner Chamfers in Sheet Metal

Corner chamfers are typically applied to sheet metal parts to remove sharp corners from the flat stock.

The Corner Chamfer command provides options allowing the creation of chamfers using:

• A specific distance
• A distance and angle
• Two distances

You can add chamfers to one or more corners of a sheet metal part.

Create a Corner Chamfer with the Same Distance on Both Edges

The One Distance option creates a chamfer with the same offset distance from the corner on both sheet metal edges. When you can create a corner chamfer with a single distance, you can select only model edges representing corners. You can select a single corner or multiple corners.

1. On the ribbon, click Sheet Metal tab Modify panel Corner Chamfer .
2. Click One Distance.
3. Select the corners to chamfer.
4. In the Distance drop-down list, specify a chamfer distance.

Create a Corner Chamfer by Specifying Distance and Angle

The Distance and Angle option creates a chamfer defined by an offset from a sheet metal edge and an angle from that sheet metal edge to the offset. You can chamfer one or both corners of a selected sheet metal edge in one operation.

1. On the ribbon, click Sheet Metal tab Modify panel Corner Chamfer .
2. Click Distance and Angle.
3. Click the sheet metal edge the chamfer is angled from, and then click one or both corners on the sheet metal edge. You can select only sheet metal edges and model edges representing corners.
4. In the Distance and Angles drop-down lists, specify a chamfer distance and angle:
   • Distance. Specifies the offset distance from a selected sheet metal edge for chamfers defined by one distance, or by a distance and angle.
   • Angle. Specifies the angle applied to chamfers defined by a distance and angle.

Create a Corner Chamfer by Specifying Distance for Each Edge

The Two Distances option creates a chamfer on a single corner with a specified distance for each sheet metal edge. Edges can be chained together.

1. On the ribbon, click Sheet Metal tab Modify panel Corner Chamfer .
2. Click Two Distances, and then click the corner to chamfer. (You can select only a model edge representing a corner.)
3. Enter values for Distance 1 and Distance 2:
   • Distance1. Specifies the first offset distance for chamfers defined by two distances.
   • Distance2. Specifies the second offset distance for chamfers defined by two distances.
4. (Optional) Click Flip to reverse the direction of the chamfer distances for chamfers defined by two distances.
