To Edit, Delete, Link, or Suppress BIM Content Connector

Modify or delete BIM Content connectors to change their associated information.

Start with an open Autodesk Inventor part or assembly file that contains the connectors you want to edit

Edit BIM Content connector

  1. On the ribbon, click Environments tab Begin panel BIM Content .
  2. The existing connectors appear in the BIM Content environment graphics window, and browser.
  3. In the browser, expand the MEP System Connections icon, and expand the connector types to edit.
  4. In the browser, or in the graphics window, right-click a connector and click Edit Connector.
    Note: When you pause the cursor over a connector in the graphics window or its name in the browser, its color changes, and it highlights.
  5. The connector dialog box for the selected connector displays. You can change the shape, orientation, size, and properties of the selected connector.
  6. When you finish the edits, click OK to update the information.
Important: Connectors do not indicate direction. They indicate a mating face or plane. Generally, connectors point away from the solid body component face or opening.

Delete BIM Content connector from model

  1. On the ribbon, click Environments tab Begin panel BIM Content .
  2. The existing connectors appear in the BIM Content environment graphics window and browser.

    In the browser, expand the MEP System Connections icon, and expand the connector types to delete.

  3. In the browser, or in the graphics window, right-click a connector, and click Delete Connectors.
    Note: When you pause the cursor over a connector in the graphics window, or its name in the browser, its color changes and it highlights.
  4. Continue to delete connectors, as necessary.

Suppress connector in model

Connectors remain suppressed until you unsuppress them. In the browser, suppressed connectors are unavailable.

Suppressed connectors are not included in the ADSK file created by the Export Building Components command.

  1. On the ribbon, click Environments tab Begin panel BIM Content .
  2. In the Browser, expand the MEP System Connections icon, expand a connector type, and select a connector.
  3. Right-click, and click Suppress Connectors.
    Note: To unsuppress a connector, select it in the browser, and then right-click it and select Suppress Connectors again to remove the check mark.

Link connectors

Components such as water valves, elbows, and other parts can interact in a logical way with MEP systems.

Linked connectors display a dashed line between them in the BIM Content graphics window.

  1. On the ribbon, click Environments tab Begin panel BIM Content .
  2. In the Browser, expand the MEP System Connections icon, expand a connector type, and select the connectors.
  3. Right-click, and click Link Connectors.
    Note: You can link only two connectors of the same type.
