To Change Default Rules for Sheet Metal Parts

Use the Sheet Metal Defaults dialog box to change the options and parameters defined by the selected Sheet Metal Rule for the active model state or to assign a unique thickness to a body in a multibody part.

Modify Sheet Metal Defaults

You use the Sheet Metal Defaults dialog box to select a Sheet Metal Rule. You can also select a material type, unfolding rule, and sheet thickness that is different from the value specified in the Sheet Metal Rule.

  1. On the ribbon, click Sheet Metal tab Setup panel Sheet Metal Defaults .
  2. (Optional) To change the default Sheet Metal Rule, Material, or Unfolding Rule for the active part, select from the following drop-down lists:
    • Sheet Metal Rule. When the filter in the Style and Standard Editor is set to:
      • Local, the list contains all sheet metal rules within the local file.
      • All Styles, the list contains all sheet metal rules within the style library.
    • Material. Lists all materials in the active library. If the desired material is in another library, browse to that library and select the material. If the necessary material library is not in the project file, we recommend you add it to the project so it is readily accessible.
    • Unfold Rule. When the filter in Style and Standard Editor is set to:
      • Local, the list contains all unfolding rules within the local file.
      • All Styles, the list contains all unfolding rules within the style library.
  3. (Optional) To specify a sheet metal thickness that is different from the Sheet Metal Rule value, clear the Use Thickness from Rule checkbox and enter a value. You can specify a unique thickness for each model state.

Use Thickness from Rule is disabled if the active part is an added model state or an iPart factory with Thickness as a column in the table.

    • Edit Sheet Metal Rule .
