To Convert IDW to DWG with Task Scheduler

You can select specific .idw files, .idw files in a folder including subfolders, referenced by an assembly in a non vault Autodesk Inventor project.

Before You Begin

  1. Back up the .idw files you want to convert to Inventor .dwg.
  2. To access files stored on a server, you can map the network drive locally or user UNC path directly.
  3. Verify that your files resolve and open correctly in the existing version of Inventor. Repair resolution and general problems before you proceed.
  4. Close all versions of Inventor.

Convert IDW to DWG

  1.  In the Inventor Task Scheduler window, click Convert IDW to DWG .

    The information in the task list switches to show any Convert IDW to DWG tasks you saved previously.

  2. In the Inventor Task Scheduler window, right-click, and select Create Task Convert IDW to DWG.
  3. In the Convert IDW to DWG dialog box, in Project, specify the active non vault project. The files are converted from the local hard drive.
  4. Click Add Files, Add Folder, or Add Project.
    • If you select Add Folder, your selection includes the folder’s Inventor files and their dependencies. To include subfolders, click the Recursive column.
    • If you select Add Project, you convert all the legacy files within the project you specify.
  5. In the Output Folder and Output File Name columns, you can change the default. You can click Browse in the box to browse to a folder or file.
  6. In the Task Properties box, enter a task name and a time-out threshold.
  7. Specify a schedule, or select the Immediately option.
  8. Click OK.

The log file reflects the success or problems in the conversion.
