To position plastic parts in family mold design

Align XY plane with reference selecting face, plane, or edge

  1. In the Mold Layout tab, click Adjust Position.
  2. In the Adjust Position dialog box, select Align X/Y Plane with Reference.
  3. Click the Plastic Part select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  4. Select the Face/Plane as Additional Selection check box.
  5. Select a face, a plane, or an edge of the part.
  6. Click the Reference select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  7. Select the Face/Plane as Additional Selection check box.
  8. Select a face, a plane, or an edge of the part.
  9. Enter values for X Offset and Y Offset.
  10. Click OK.

Align XY plane with reference using coordinate system

  1. In the Mold Layout tab, click Adjust Position.
  2. In the Adjust Position dialog box, select Align X/Y Plane with Reference.
  3. Click the Plastic Part select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  4. Click the Reference select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  5. Clear the Face/Plane as Additional Selection check box.
  6. Choose an alignment method:
    • Click the Coordinate Array button. Align the bottom surface of the adjusting part range box with the reference part range box on a horizontal plane.
    • Click the Ordinal Array button. Align the top surface of the adjusting part range box with the bottom surface of the reference part range box on a horizontal plane.
    Enter values for X Offset and Y Offset.
  7. Click OK.

Align center with X/Y direction

  1. In the Mold Layout tab, click Adjust Position.
  2. In the Adjust Position dialog box, select Align Center with X/Y Direction.
  3. Click the Plastic Part select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  4. Click the Reference select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  5. Click X direction, and then enter a value for X Offset.
  6. Click Y direction, and then enter a value for Y Offset.
  7. Click OK.

Adjust position using free transform

  1. In the Mold Layout tab, click Adjust Position.
  2. In the Adjust Position dialog box, select Free Transform.
  3. Click the Plastic Part select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  4. Click the Reference select button, and then select a part in the graphics window.
  5. Enter values for X Offset, Y Offset, and Z Offset.
  6. Click OK.

Edit position settings and parameters

  1. In the Mold Design browser, right-click the Adjust Position node, and then click Edit Feature.
  2. In the Adjust Position dialog box, modify the position settings and parameters.
  3. Click OK.
