Add Pipe Connector to Model

Create a pipe connector

Use pipe connectors for piping, pipe fittings, and other components that transmit fluids.

  1. On the ribbon, click Environments tab Begin panel BIM Content .
  2. On the BIM Content tab MEP Connectors panel , click Pipe Connector ,

    or

In the browser, expand the MEP System Connections icon, right-click the Pipe node, and click Add Connector.

  3. In the Pipe Connector dialog box, select a shape for the connector.
Note: If you select Undefined, you can select any oval, circular, or rectangular face.
  4. Select a face to place and position the connector. The location of the connector appears as a cylindrical arrow on the selected Autodesk Inventor part or assembly.
Important: Connectors glyphs are similar to assembly mate constraints in that they indicate a mating face or plane. They do not indicate flow direction. Typically, connectors point away from the host component. Use the Direction command to reverse connector direction.
  5. Optionally, clear the Inferred check box next to the size field, and enter a value, or on the Most Recently Used list, select a value.

If the box is not selected, the size value is static. If selected, the size value is linked to the size of the selected face.

  6. On the System Type drop-down list, click the system type.
  7. Enter values in the Properties list.

The available properties available vary depending on the System Type selected. The size parameters are added to the parameter table as BIM parameters. Additional properties can be added by checking the box in the fx column. The parameters can also be modified via the parameter editor.

  8. To continue to add connectors, click Apply. To create the connector and close the dialog box, click OK.
