Exercise 2: Classify roads and parcels

Classify objects in the remaining drawings.

Note: This exercise uses the Classify_Roads.dwg and Classify_Parcels.dwg files you worked with in Exercise 2: Define an object class.

To classify the roads and parcels

  1. If the Classify_Roads.dwg drawing is not already open in AutoCAD Map 3D toolset, open it. Click OpenDrawing.
  2. Click Create tabDrawing Object panelSelect Unclassified. Find
  3. Right-click the Roads object class in Map Explorer in the Task Pane and click Classify Objects.
  4. Leave both boxes selected in the Classify Objects dialog box and click OK.
  5. Save and close Classify_Roads.dwg.
  6. If the Classify_Parcels.dwg drawing is not already open in AutoCAD Map 3D toolset, open it. Click OpenDrawing.
  7. Instead of selecting all the parcels, drag-select only a portion of them.

    Select about one quarter of the parcels.

  8. Right-click the Parcels object class in Map Explorer in the Task Pane and click Classify Objects.
  9. Leave both boxes checked in the Classify Objects dialog box and click OK.
  10. Save and close Classify_Parcels.dwg.

Where you are now

You classified objects for three object classes.
