Using the Expression Builder

The Expression Builder is displayed when you are doing the following:

• Filtering the Layers You Add to a Map
• Filtering Feature Layers
• Filtering by Location
• Searching to Select Feature Layers
• Creating a Calculation
• Using Expressions to Label Features
• Using Expressions In Split Merge Rules

Expressions you build with the Expression Builder affect geospatial data only and cannot be used for drawing objects. For help with expressions that affect drawing data, see the Expression Evaluator section.
