To Work with Geodetic Transformation

Specify a Geodetic Transformation

  1. Click Map Setup tabCoordinate System panelGeodetic Transformation Preference.
  2. In the Geodetic Transformation Preference dialog box, click to add a configuration item.
  3. In the Select Transformation dialog box, specify the source and target coordinate systems.

    All available transformations are shown in the table.

    Note: You can see the system built-in transformations and custom transformations only if the transformation has been defined. For more information about defining transformations, see To Define a Geodetic Transformation and To Define a Geodetic Transformation Path topics.

    Transformations that are automatically performed by AutoCAD Map 3D toolset are marked with this icon. Double-click each item to view the details.

  4. Click the transformation item you want to use.
  5. Add your comment and specify whether the scope is applied to the current drawing or current user.
    Note: The settings for the user level scope are saved in the TransformationSetting.xml file which can be found in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\User Geospatial Coordinate Systems.
  6. Click OK.
  7. When you're satisfied with the specified transformation, click Apply.

View the Item Details in the Transformation List Table

In the Geodetic Transformation Preference dialog box, double-click the configuration item.

Edit an Item in the Transformation List Table

  1. In the Geodetic Transformation Preference dialog box, select a configuration item.
  2. Click .
  3. In the Select Transformation dialog box, make the necessary changes. Click OK.
  4. Click Apply.

Delete an Item in the Transformation List Table

  1. In the Geodetic Transformation Preference dialog box, select a configuration item.
  2. Click .

Share Transformation Settings

  1. In File Explorer, navigate to the following location: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\User Geospatial Coordinate Systems.
  2. Copy the TransformationSetting.xml file.
  3. Paste the XML file to another user folder.
  4. Note: Make sure that the specified coordinate systems and transformations exist in the same environment.
