To Work With Maps in Viewports

Each display map can be assigned to a viewport. Each viewport can have its own background color, and can contain its own legend, north arrow, and scale bar. You can control the display of layers in each viewport independently.

To assign a display map to a new viewport

  1. Make the desired display map the current model space map. Do one of the following:
  2. Switch to paper space.
  3. Click Layout Tools tab > Viewports panel > Viewport shape drop-down list and select from:
    • Rectangular — Lets you specify two corner point to set the viewport shape.
    • Polygonal — Lets you specify multiple point to set the viewport shape.
    • From Object — Lets you set the viewport shape by selecting an existing, closed polyline, ellipse, spline, region, or circle.

    The current model space map appears in the new viewport.

To change the display map assigned to a viewport

  1. Switch to paper space.
  2. Select the viewport to change.
  3. Click Layout Tools tab > Display Maps and select the display map to assign.

To remove the display map assignment from a viewport

  1. Switch to paper space.
  2. Select the viewport to change.
  3. Click Layout Tools tab > Display Maps > Always Display Current Model Space Map.
  4. Note: If you delete a display map, its associated viewport will always display the current model space map.
