Use the reference editing command to make modifications to xrefs and blocks. While in REFEDIT mode, the Task Pane and Data View are grayed out and some commands are unavailable. If you attempt to use one of these commands, AutoCAD Map 3D toolset displays a message that the command is not allowed during reference editing.
