Connect nodes by dragging them

The following workflows are applicable to both the Node Editor and the Hypershade.

Use the node's default connection

  1. Ctrl+middle-drag a node onto another in the Node Editor or the Hypershade work area. The default connection is created.

Use the Connection Editor

  1. Shift+Middle-drag a node onto another in the Node Editor or the Hypershade work area. The Connection Editor appears so you can select your output and input attributes.
  2. In the Connection Editor, select the output attribute on the left, and the input attribute on the right to connect the nodes.

When you select an output attribute, some of the input attributes on the right are dimmed, indicating either that they cannot be connected to this type of output node or you must double-click the dimmed attributes to see the nested, connectable nodes.

For more information on the Connection Editor, see Connection Editor.
