Connect nodes using the Connection Editor

Click Windows > General Editors > Connection Editor to open the Connection Editor. For more information about render nodes and connections, see About shading networks.

To connect nodes in the Connection Editor

  1. In the Connection Editor, select the output attribute on the left, and the input attribute on the right to connect the nodes.

When you select an output attribute, some of the input attributes on the right are dimmed, indicating either that they cannot be connected to this type of output node or you must double-click the dimmed attributes to see the nested, connectable nodes.

To connect two object’s nodes using the Connection Editor

  1. Select the object for the output source.
  2. Shift+click the object for the input source. The order is important since the second object selected always acts as the input source.
  3. Select Windows > General Editors > Connection Editor.

The Connection Editor window opens and the left and right columns are automatically filled with the attributes of each source.
