Display diagnostic colors in your Bifröst liquid: workflow example
You can display a specific channel as a color ramp in the viewport for diagnostic or other purposes. This example, demonstrates how to use particle velocity values to set the
Color Channel Remap ramp.
Ensure there is enough detail in your liquid by increasing the density of the particles on its surface. To do this, select the bifrostLiquid, and in the bifrostLiquidPropertiesContainer node's attributes, scroll to the
Emission section, expand it , and then expand
Particle Distribution.
Set
Surface Particle Density to 3.
Increasing this value lets you increase the number of particles at the surface of the liquid where the details are needed, rather than increasing the number of particles throughout the whole volume.
In the Attribute Editor, click the liquidShape tab.
In the
Particle Display section, ensure that
Color Channel
is set to
velocity.
Play or scrub through the simulation.
Most of the particles are blue, meaning that their velocity is lower than the current
Color Channel Max value of 20. To display a range of particle velocities, reset this value so that higher velocity particles display white.
Drag the right control of the value ramp to the left almost to 0.
A Selected Position value of 0.2 produces good results.
You can use this value as a fraction of 1.0 to set the Color Max Channel (for example 0.2 × 20.0 = 4.0).
Set the Color Max Channel to 4.0.
Reset the right control of the value ramp to its original setting:
Selected Position 1 and
Selected Value 1.0.
Preview the simulation.
Tip: You can use the
Clipping attributes under
Bifrost Controls to preview a slice of the shape.
