An intermediate object is an object’s shape prior to its deformation. After you deform an object, you can still view its prior shape by displaying its intermediate object. Comparing the intermediate object with the deformed object can be a useful way to judge the effect of a deformation.

To display intermediate deformation object(s)
- Select the object(s) being deformed.
- Select
Deform > Display Intermediate Objects in the Edit section of the
Deform Menu.
To hide intermediate deformation object(s)
- Select the intermediate object(s) being displayed.
- Select
Deform > Hide Intermediate Objects in the Edit section of the
Deform Menu.
- Change the deformer.
Show Original Geometry
By default, the state of the Original Geometry on a deformed object geometry is hidden, but you can display it.
Note: Only geometry that has Component Tags and been deformed lets you access the original geometry state. See
Assign Component Tags to geometry for information on how to add Component Tags to geometry.
To show Original Geometry in a scene:
- Select the geometry in the viewer window.
- In the
Attribute Editor, go to the <geometryname>Orig tab, and in the
Object Display widget, turn on the
Intermediate Object option..
