Expand a selection

You can use the Propagation options (Select > Use Constraints) or the Modeling Toolkit Selection Constraints to quickly preview and select a group of components. Instead of filtering components from a selection, these options expand your selection to other components on the same mesh. All options support preselection highlighting, letting you preview your selection before it's made.

To expand a selection

  1. Select an object.
  2. Select a selection mode.
Note: Edge Loop and Edge Ring options are only available when Edge component selection mode is on.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • In the main menu, select Select > Use Constraints and then select an option from the Propagation drop-down menu.
    • In the Modeling Toolkit, select an option from the Selection Constraints drop-down menu.
    • Ctrl + Shift + right-click in the scene and make a selection from the Selection Constraints menu.
  4. Move your cursor over the mesh to preview your selection.
  5. Make a selection.

You can click a single component, or you can select multiple components using Marquee-selection of Drag-selection.
