nCache menu

Create

Create New Cache
Creates a new nCache for the current Nucleus or Maya Fluid object.

If you have multiple objects selected, nCaches are created for each of the selected objects (One file per object) or a single cache (One file per frame, One file) is created for all the selected objects. See Create or import nCaches.

Select nCache > Create New Cache > nObject > to see nCache Options for Nucleus objects .

Select nCache > Create New Cache > Maya Fluid > to see Fluid nCache Options.

See also Create or import nCaches.

Merge Caches
Merges your current object’s enabled caches and disables the cache nodes that are merged. By default, this operation does not delete any of your nCache nodes.

Select nCache > Merge Caches > nObject > to see nCache Options for Nucleus objects .

Select nCache > Merge Caches > Maya Fluid > to see Fluid nCache Options.

See also Merge nCache clips.

Replace Caches
Replaces the current object’s cache with a newly generated cache. You cannot replace an nCache for an object that has more than one attached cache.

Select nCache > Replace Caches > nObject > to see nCache Options for Nucleus objects .

Select nCache > Replace Caches > Maya Fluid > to see Fluid nCache Options.

See also Replace nCaches.

Enable All Caches on Selected
Enables all the current object’s nodes and clips.
Disable All Caches on Selected
Disables all the current object’s nodes and clips.

Edit

Append to Cache
Generates a new nCache for the current object and appends it to its enabled nCache. If the appended cache overlaps in time with the enabled cache, then it is automatically blended with the enabled cache. However, if there is a gap in time between the enabled cache and the appended cache, then the gap is linearly interpolated and no cache data for the gap is saved to the appended cache.

Select nCache > Append to Cache > to see Append to nCache Options.

Attach Cache
Lets you browse your local hard drive or server for an existing nCache file to attach to the current object. If the current object already has a nCache, the cache file you browse to and select replaces the original nCache but does not delete it from disk. The nCache file you select must have the same topology as the object to which you are importing the cache. See Create or import nCaches.
Delete Cache
Deletes the current object’s cache nodes and clips.

Select nCache > Delete Cache > to see Delete nCache Options.

Frame

Replace Cache Frame
Replaces the current object’s cache frames specified in the Replace nCache Frames Options window. This lets you strategically replace individual cache frames in an nCache file. For example, you can improve an object’s cached simulation by resimulating parts of the object at specific frames and then replacing those frames in its nCache file.

Select nCache > Replace Cache Frame > to see Replace nCache Frames Options.

Delete Cache Frame
Deletes single frames or whole frame ranges from the current object’s enabled cache. For example, you can truncate the beginnings or ends of the enabled nCache.

Select nCache > Delete Cache Frame > to see Delete nCache Frames Options.

nCloth

Paint Cache Weights Tool
Makes the Paint Cache Weights Tool your current tool. With this tool, you can paint and blend the weights of multiple caches on a single nCloth object’s surface.

Opens the Paint Cache Weights Tool in the Tool Settings window. In this window, the names of all the current nCloth object’s cache files are listed under Cache. Select one of the nCloth caches from the list to paint its weights on the selected nCloth object. See Artisan Tool Settingsfor information on this tool’s settings.

Lists the names of all the current nCloth object’s caches. Select one of the nCloth caches from the list to paint its weights on the selected nCloth object.

Transfer Cache To Input Mesh
Converts the current nCloth cache to an input mesh. As an input mesh, you can attract to your cache, and you can paint a map on your cache where you want to change the simulation from your existing cache.

Legacy Cache

These options display by default, but can be hidden by setting the MAYA_ENABLE_LEGACY_CACHE environment variable to 0.

For information about the Legacy Cache menu items, see Maya Classic Dynamics.
