Check ring

A sliding non-return valve found on the front of the screw.

The check ring enables molten plastic to flow forward to the front of the screw during plastication, and prevents flow back into the screw during injection. Because the check ring is a high-wear item, it can leak during injection, reducing the pressure that is applied to the molten plastic.
